Are you right for us?
We are delighted to invite you to an exciting opportunity here at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Speedway. The diocese is supporting us with a part time priest for the year ahead. The opportunity to continue that will be in conjunction with the diocesan mission strategy committee as we discern our future. We are a community of faith that is always eager to welcome new faces, and we would be thrilled if you would consider walking with us during this new season of growth and transformation. We invite you to explore what we are about, and prayerfully consider how you might contribute to the life and ministry of this parish.
Since leaving our building in 2018, St. John’s has held services on Zoom, in homes, parks, golf courses, and at eucharistic dinners. Currently, we are meeting at a local Lutheran church, which has generously shared their space. We believe that the church is not the building, but the people. As scripture says, “where two or three are gathered in His name, God will be among us.” We aren’t trying to plant a new church, but to repot our existing one. We are committed to this journey and need a priest to guide us along the way.
For many years, St. John’s has been a source of spiritual renewal and strength, helping people return to God and Jesus when they had lost hope. It has become a family that shares beliefs, celebrates God’s goodness, and grows together. Our welcoming spirit has been a cornerstone of our lives, making St. John’s a place where people from all backgrounds can find support and belonging. The acceptance found here deeply impacts people’s spiritual journeys, and our openness to all, no matter where they are in their faith, is one of the church’s most valued qualities.
At St. John’s, we are in a time of growth and reflection. We are looking for leaders passionate about spiritual and community development. This person should inspire others with a clear vision for the future and engage them with energy and enthusiasm. We seek someone who empowers others to grow and knows when to be patient in developing their talents. Our leaders must be approachable, empathetic, and connected to the people they serve. We want someone committed to outreach, building relationships, and spreading Christ’s love both inside and outside the church. We need a leader who will lead with humility, patience, and compassion.
We believe everything happens in God’s own time - God says yes, God says no, and He says “Wait, I have greater things in store for you.” Are you willing to be a key part of the greater things God is calling us to accomplish?
If you are interested in walking with us in this new season and joining us in our mission to grow, serve, and make an impact, we would love to hear from you. Please send your resume, OTM profile, and a letter of interest to Canon Giulianna Cappelletti Gray, D, at gray@indydio.org. We look forward to hearing from you and exploring how God might be calling you to serve with us at St. John’s.
